This project was all about fixing a common problem in older homes: not enough space to live comfortably together.

The original property had once been two separate houses, which meant the internal layout felt disconnected. Most importantly, the existing sitting room was far too small for the family to enjoy time together.

The client needed a separate, spacious living area, one that felt like a natural continuation of the home, not an afterthought.

A Flexible Build, Delivered Within 12 Weeks

We planned a 12-week timeline for the 40m² extension. Partway through the build, the client asked us to take on additional work in another part of the property, and we were happy to help.

By bringing in extra labour and managing the phases closely, we kept the original handover deadline intact. That flexibility meant the client got more done without stretching the timeline or delaying the result.

Built to Blend In

While the house was already finished in a bold, vibrant blue (a standout feature), our role was to make sure the new build fit seamlessly into the original shape and character of the property.

The extension was positioned on the corner of the house, which created both opportunities and challenges. We needed to carefully manage how the new space would connect to the existing rooms without disturbing the flow of the layout.

The external structure was matched to the existing finishes, and we added high-performance insulation throughout to boost the overall comfort and efficiency of the home.

Light-Filled Living Space

The new living room features large windows that allow natural light to pour in throughout the day, making the room feel bigger, brighter, and more inviting.

Even though it’s a new build, the room feels fully connected to the rest of the home, with garden space still available around the property and the roofline blending in cleanly with the existing house. From the outside, you’d never know this space wasn’t always there.
