From Stables to Stylish Living: Transforming a home in Wexford

Reimagining the Front of the House
This renovation project in Wexford took a creative and practical approach, working within the home’s existing structure rather than building an extension. The property had a unique layout, including a large entryway and a set of modern stables. The goal? To make better use of the space while preserving the farm-style charm the client loved.
By converting a portion of the entry and a few of the stables into comfortable living space, the home was transformed into a brighter, more functional place for family life, all without sacrificing its original character. Other stables remain intact at the back of the house, keeping the home’s roots in place.
The build was completed in just 16 weeks, with the full range of trades involved, from plumbing and electrics to kitchen fitting and tiling. The renovation was architect-led, and our team managed everything from materials to timelines.
No Extension, Big Impact: A 85m² Interior Overhaul
This large-scale renovation covered approximately 85 square metres, reshaping key areas of the home:
– Dining Room: Created by converting a once-unused entryway.
– Living Room: Built from part of the existing stables, now a warm, spacious family space.
– Kitchen: A brand new, well-equipped kitchen was fitted, complete with an island for cooking and gathering.
– Cloakroom: Practical additions like a cloakroom made daily life easier.
– Tiling: We tiled the entire ground floor for a seamless, hardwearing finish.
– Porch & Canopy: An oak-framed porch was added at the front of the home, and a canopy was built over the windows for added shade and visual appeal.
– New Front Door: A stylish, updated entrance now welcomes you into the reworked layout.

Warmth, Light & Natural Timber
A major visual highlight of this project is the use of green oak framing throughout the interiors. These beams were all bespoke built and left exposed to bring warmth, texture and timeless quality to the finished home.
Thanks to thoughtful layout changes and smart use of natural light, the newly transformed space feels open and inviting year-round. It’s now large enough to host guests, gather as a family, and even make space for a Christmas tree during the holidays.
