A 30m² Kitchen Extension and Entrance Renovation in Navan

This 30m² kitchen extension in Navan transformed an underused garden area into a spacious, modern kitchen designed for everyday living and entertaining. Alongside the rear extension, the front entrance was also upgraded, enhancing both the functionality and external appearance of the home. The overall aim was to create additional living space within the kitchen while maintaining a clean, minimal aesthetic that blended effortlessly with the existing property.
Opening Up the Rear to Create Space and Flow
The original kitchen felt limited in size and lacked a strong connection to the garden. By removing the rear wall and extending into unused outdoor space, we significantly increased the footprint and improved the overall flow of the home. The extension creates a generous open layout that supports cooking, dining, and socialising within one cohesive space.
Large glass doors provide a strong indoor outdoor connection, while skylights maximise natural light from above. Together, these features enhance the sense of openness and ensure the kitchen feels bright and welcoming throughout the day. Internally, the design follows a modern and minimal approach, with cream finishes that reflect light and contribute to a calm, timeless atmosphere.
A new kitchen island was introduced as part of the redesign, adding valuable counter space and establishing a natural focal point within the room. The island strengthens the social aspect of the kitchen, allowing the family to gather comfortably while keeping the layout practical and functional.
A Seamless Integration with the Existing Home
A key priority throughout the project was ensuring the extension felt like a natural continuation of the original structure. Externally, materials were carefully selected to match the existing house. Due to the lower pitch of the new roof, a different roof tile was required to meet performance standards, while still complementing the overall appearance of the property.
Internally, the transition between the original kitchen and the new extension is smooth and cohesive, avoiding the sense of an obvious addition. The existing heat pump, which was located within the build area, was relocated with careful planning to ensure the system remained operational throughout the project.
The build was completed within the planned 10 week timeline. An architect detailed the client’s vision at design stage, and our in house structural engineer carried out all required structural calculations, allowing the construction process to progress efficiently and to a high standard.

Enhancing the Front Entrance
As part of the wider renovation, the front entrance was redesigned to add both space and character to the façade. Previously, the front door sat flat against the exterior wall. We constructed a new protruding entrance of approximately one square metre, extending outward from the original line of the house.
The addition features a triangular pitched roof with a tiled finish and brickwork carefully matched to the existing property. While modest in scale, this upgrade adds depth and architectural interest to the front of the home. It also creates a more generous and welcoming entry point, improving both practicality and kerb appeal.
Designed for Modern Living
The completed project delivers a bright, spacious kitchen that better reflects how the family lives today. With improved layout, increased natural light, and a thoughtful blend between existing and new elements, the extension enhances both daily comfort and long term value. The upgraded entrance further strengthens the overall transformation, giving the home greater presence from the moment you arrive.
We are scheduled to return later in the year to complete landscaping works, further enhancing the connection between the interior space and the garden.
